Module 1 · Lesson 9 of 10

Capstone Lab and final check

Real projects do not arrive one topic at a time. In this capstone you launch a small product and face ownership, license, naming, claim, privacy and repair decisions in one run. Then a 15-question final check shows what you have locked in.

You have learned the pieces. Now use them together. In the capstone you are the founder of a small, fictional shop, PaperTrail, selling printable planners and a freelance template service. Six decisions, drawn from everything in Module 1, stand between you and a trustworthy launch.

01Your quick review before you start

Lesson 3: OwnershipThe creator owns by default. Freelancer work needs a signed agreement to transfer. Buying a copy is not buying the copyright.
Lesson 4: PermissionCheck origin, grant, scope, conditions, record. Keep a license log. Fair use is a defense, not a plan.
Lesson 5: NamesAvoid confusion, prefer stronger names, check the USPTO and the web, and refer to other brands truthfully.
Lesson 6: ClaimsSubstantiate before you publish. Real reviews, clear disclosures, honest urgency.
Lesson 7: DataCollect less, be honest, honor opt-outs, protect what you hold.
Lesson 8: AgreementsWrite it down. Say yes with the impact. Spot, say, fix, prevent.

Anything unticked is your next study target. Reread that lesson, redo its game, and try the final check again.

Key takeaways

  • Real decisions mix ownership, permission, naming, claims, data and repair, and the Four Questions handle them all.
  • Match each use to the license scope, and keep records.
  • Honest copy, permission-based email and written agreements protect you before problems arrive.
  • When something goes wrong, stop the harm, say it plainly, fix it fully and prevent a repeat.
